Can’t decide between thick guacamole or a thinner dressing? This 5-minute lime-avocado sauce is creamy, tangy, garlicky, and a perfect happy medium!

5-Minute Lime-Avocado Sauce topped with a sprig of parsley in a small serving ramekin on a wooden cutting board next to two lime slices

Do you ever find yourself craving guacamole, but a less chunky version? Maybe something with a little more citrus or tang?

That’s the best time to make this 5-minute lime-avocado sauce! It has all the amazing flavors of guacamole, but the addition of olive or avocado oil makes it more spreadable and versatile.

I also love the kick of garlic and extra acidity from the lime. Just add cilantro or parsley, whichever you prefer, and dig in.

Perhaps the best part about this recipe is that the whole thing comes together right in the food processor. You’ll use it to mince the garlic, then add your other ingredients. You can even juice the lime right into the machine.

So when I say this is a “5-minute” recipe, what I really mean is that it will take you 5 minutes AT MOST! No-fuss prep, easy clean-up, and delicious sauce sound like a win-win-win to me.

How to make 5-minute lime-avocado sauce

All you need is five ingredients plus salt and pepper to bring this sauce together in three simple steps!

Step 1: With your food processor running, drop the garlic through the feed tube to mince it.

Step 2: Stop the processor, then add the cilantro or parsley, olive oil, avocado, lime juice, salt, and pepper.

Step 3: Process until smooth.

Just scrape the sauce into a ramekin or bowl and you’re ready to serve. How easy is that?

What to serve with this avocado-based sauce

When you think of avocado, do you immediately think of Mexican food? If so, you’ll love serving this sauce with my Tex-Mex burrito bowl! It would also be great over this Mexican microwave egg scramble for breakfast.

Putting out a spread for friends, family, or guests? Avocado and lime sauce goes great with homemade salsa.

Once you give this recipe a try, I’m sure you’ll discover all kinds of dishes to serve it with. It’s just so versatile!

Storage

Anything made with avocado is best served immediately to prevent the green fruit from oxidizing and turning brown. However, the lime in this recipe should help preserve the green color for a little longer!

Leftovers can be stored in a shallow airtight container or covered in the refrigerator for a few days. Gently resting plastic wrap on top of the sauce can help prevent oxidation as well.
