Easy Strata

Ingredients 

  • ¾ cup day-old bread, (cubed)
  • 2 tablespoons grated cheese
  • cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • teaspoon seasoning blend, (Italian, Greek, etc.)
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Spray a 7-ounce ramekin or small ovenproof bowl with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Place the bread in the ramekin and sprinkle the cheese on top.
    ¾ cup day-old bread, 2 tablespoons grated cheese
  • In a measuring cup, combine the milk, egg, seasoning, and salt and pepper. Whisk everything together, then pour over the bread and cheese in the ramekin.
    ⅓ cup milk, 1 large egg, ⅛ teaspoon seasoning blend, Kosher salt, Freshly ground black pepper
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Remove the strata from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  • Place the ramekin on a small baking pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the strata is set.

Notes

This recipe makes 1 serving. You can double it for meal-prep or triple, quadruple, etc. if you're having people over for brunch.
You can use any kind of bread and/or cheese for this recipe. 
Unbaked strata can be stored in the refrigerator for about 2 days. Once cooked, leftovers can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
