Are smoothies good for you?
The answer is a little complicated… basically, yes and no. Before we dive into my favorite diabetic smoothie recipes, let’s talk about why.
Smoothies have become popular as a healthy, easy breakfast or snack you can enjoy on-the-go. However, not all smoothies are created equal.
In fact, many of the smoothies you can buy at a shop or the store are actually packed with sugar and unhealthy ingredients. Some are as bad as eating a candy bar!
The trick to making healthy smoothies? It’s all in the ingredients.

Hey, I thought this was a awesome article. Apreciate you posting.
Thanks! One caution on the candied ginger – mince it VERY finely before you put it in the blender. It won’t get much smaller during the blending process and it can be a bit disconcerting to hit a big chunk of ginger while you’re drinking your smoothie!
I love the use of the candied ginger in this smoothie! Thanks for putting that chart together. It’s great!
Love this mix and match chart. Fabulous idea! I am a big time smoothie lover too. Besides all your ingredients, I also like to add {undenatured} whey protein or egg white protein, along with ground flaxmeal or chia seeds to my smoothies. Love the addition of candied ginger to your strawberry banana smoothie. Will definitely have to try it out!
