Looking for a new low-carb appetizer that’s easy to make? Try these delicious 5-ingredient roasted shrimp with cream cheese and prosciutto!

Roasted Shrimp with Cream Cheese and Prosciutto served over greens on a wooden plank

Looking for a tasty appetizer you can throw together in about 20 minutes or less? These roasted shrimp with cream cheese and prosciutto are just what you need!

Quick, easy, and only five total ingredients — does it get much better than that? Plus, the crispy prosciutto with the soft cream cheese is such a delicious combination!

Whether you need a quick snack or want a nice appetizer to hold everyone over before dinner, there’s never a bad time to whip up this dish. It could even be great for a light lunch!

How to make roasted shrimp with cream cheese and prosciutto

This simple recipe comes together in just a few steps.

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Brush a baking sheet with olive oil.

Step 2: Slice each piece of prosciutto in half lengthwise. Spread about ¼ of an ounce of cream cheese onto each slice.

Step 3: Working one at a time, place a basil leaf over the back of a shrimp, then wrap the shrimp with one slice of prosciutto. Place on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Repeat with the remaining shrimp.

Step 5: Place in the oven and roast for 8 to 10 minutes or until the shrimp is opaque and firm.

That’s it! Your wonderful shrimp dish is ready to enjoy as a delightful appetizer, tasty snack, or even a light meal.

Variations for this recipe

There are a few different ways you could make this simple dish based on your tastes and preferences.

Watching your sodium intake? Use low-sodium ham instead of prosciutto. Want to lower the amount of fat? Grab a low-fat or nonfat cream cheese and use a thinner layer.

Want to play around with the ingredients? Try goat cheese instead of cream cheese. You could also replace the prosciutto with bacon, although you may want to partially cook the bacon ahead of time so it fully cooks in the oven.

Feel free to have some fun with this recipe!

Storage

For this dish, I definitely recommend serving hot out of the oven. That’s when the melted cream cheese, crispy prosciutto, and juicy shrimp are at their best!

But if you find yourself with leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy within a day or two.

Haikal – I know what you mean about eating out. I was out of town last week and I’ll be away again next week – way too many restaurant meals. Hope you enjoy the shrimp!

I’ve made this recipe several times. It is fantastic. Make some brown rice for a side dish.
