Variations for this recipe
There are a few different ways you could make this simple dish based on your tastes and preferences.
Watching your sodium intake? Use low-sodium ham instead of prosciutto. Want to lower the amount of fat? Grab a low-fat or nonfat cream cheese and use a thinner layer.
Want to play around with the ingredients? Try goat cheese instead of cream cheese. You could also replace the prosciutto with bacon, although you may want to partially cook the bacon ahead of time so it fully cooks in the oven.
Feel free to have some fun with this recipe!
Storage
For this dish, I definitely recommend serving hot out of the oven. That’s when the melted cream cheese, crispy prosciutto, and juicy shrimp are at their best!
But if you find yourself with leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy within a day or two.
