So when exactly does Santa start his naughty list for the following year? Does he wait until after New Year’s or does he begin keeping track on Christmas Day? If it’s Christmas Day, I think I’m in trouble for next year. Yesterday, I ate so, so many things I shouldn’t have.
The Grillmaster and I arrived home from our holiday travels late last night feeling happy, but also full and bloated. We seriously thought that juicing for a few days to clean out our systems might not be a bad idea.
We aren’t doing an all-out detox, but we did have this refreshing blend of carrot, apple, pineapple and orange juice for lunch today. It was perfect – light, sweet and citrusy.
Carrot Fruit Juice
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 orange peeled, halved and seeded
- 1 small apple seeded
- 1/2- inch thick slice pineapple peeled (core included)
- 1 medium carrot cut in half and ends removed (unpeeled)
- 1 cup ice cubes
With Vitamix or similar blender:
Place all ingredients in Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid. Select Smoothie program and switch machine to Start. Allow machine to complete programmed cycle. Serve immediately.
With a lower-powered blender:
Chop all fruit and carrot into pieces as large as your blender can handle. (You may also need to core pineapple.) Place ice in a zip-top freezer bag and crush with a rolling pin. Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth following your manufacturer’s directions. Serve immediately.
