Today, I’m very excited to be working with Momma’s Meals as a Featured Co-Host. On “Featured Fridays,” Tammi (aka Momma) makes a recipe from another blog for her family and writes about it. She’s cooking something from Diabetic Foodie today. Head on over to see which recipe she picked.
I decided that if Tammi was nice enough to try something from my blog, I should try something from hers. She has a lot of yummy recipes, but her Hawaiian Style Baked Beans – In the Crock jumped out at me.
I followed Tammi’s recipe using 2 cans of black beans, 1 can of Great Northern beans and 1 can of pinto beans. I used a vinegary BBQ sauce that made my beans tangy. I love vinegar, but when I say these beans were “tangy,” I really mean they made my mouth pucker! Next time I make these beans – and I will be making them again – I’ll use a sweeter, thicker BBQ sauce. I had planned to substitute turkey bacon for the bacon, but I must admit I forgot it entirely. There’s another reason to make these tasty beans again!
I love the sweetness of the pineapple in these beans and, honestly, what could be easier than throwing some beans, pineapple, BBQ sauce and ginger in a slow-cooker? Your house will smell amazing and you’ll have a side dish full of fiber and flavor that’s ready whenever you are. Thanks, Momma!
